Book Review: To The Farthest Shores

Elizabeth Camden has long held a spot in my heart as one of my favorite authors. She writes poignant fiction that is illustrious both in word, and in fact.
To the Farthest Shores is a beautiful rendition of second chances and forgiveness.

Jenny Bennett had her heart broken by Ryan Gallagher six long years ago. When he returns to the army base that Jenny is now working as a nurse, he isn't just young Ryan Gallagher, he is now Lieutenant Ryan Gallagher returned from China with mysteries galore swallowing his past. Jenny and Ryan embark on a truly exhilarating adventure that you don't want to miss.
One that is full of intrigue, forgiveness, and maybe even love.

This book is amazing! I will definitely be giving it a resounding five out of five stars.
It did all the things it was supposed to do, and more! It held my interest, and made me want to go back and read more of Camden's books over again!

Yes, I would wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone.

Book Review: The Illusionists Apprentice

Never before have I been swept away with a story such as I was with The Illusionist's Apprentice. It wasn't just an interesting story, it was magical and enthralling.
It begins with the sad tale of a magician of sorts claiming he could bring a man back to life. When I started reading this I figured that this book would be a fluke. I WAS WRONG. I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE WRONG!!
I learned a valuable lesson with this book, it was this: Don't give up on a book after the first chapter.
It was so much more than just magic or illusion. It's a story of trust. It has hardships, history, and Harry Houdini.
Wren Lockhart, a former assistant for the great Harry Houdini, is very private and mysterious. When the FBI starts asking for her help with investigating she has to figure out the difference between her personal life and the life she leads when she's on the vaudeville stage.
I would definitely read this book again, I would most certainly recommend The Illusionist's Apprentice, and I am anxiously awaiting the next book that Kristy Cambron chooses to grace us with. Five out of five stars for this gem!
Maybe I am a little kid at heart, but when it comes to books like this I could sit still for hours and read. Most of the time when I finish with a book that I really love I could shed a few tears at the loss of friends that I related with in each instance. Am I the only person that does this? Book Review: Shine Like the Dawn

Title: Shine Like the Dawn
Author: Carrie Turansky
Genre: Historical

No doubt about it...Shine Like the Dawn is as good as the cover looks! Inside its pages is a thrilling adventure of finding a killer, uncovering a blackmailer, and finding unsuspected love.
Carrie Turansky is a new author for me. I haven't had the opportunity to read any of her other novels before now, but I can say with all certainty that I WILL be reading more of them.
It seemed to go a little slow at first. When it finally sped up and reached it full potential it did not disappoint at all!
Margaret Lounsbury is a young lady living in Edwardian England. She is living with her grandmother because of some tragedy that had taken place when she was seventeen. Soon into the book you will find that Margaret, or Maggie, has started to realize that there may have been more to the accident then met the eye.  Also Nathaniel. That's all I need to say. He was the perfect hero. All the way down to his helping her find out the truth.
I would have to give Shine Like the Dawn a four out five star review. It had wonderful characters, a great storyline, and a wonderful plot, I just felt that it took a little long to reach the climax of the story.
All in all Shine Like the Dawn should be shared and recommended like the gem it is. It was released February 21, 2017, and is a pretty new novel.
I know I do this a lot, but can we talk about that cover? (insert heart eye emoji here)
I LOVE it. It is beautiful, and it has just the right amount of uncertainty to keep me interested. Maggie's dress is also a plus. ;)

Book Review:The Innkeeper of Ivy Hill

Normally I would start a raving review about Julie Klassen. The previous books that I have read by her were different, yet entertaining. Unique, but eye-catching, and imagination stretching, but I cannot let myself say the same about this book.
I honestly did like the story itself, or the idea of the story.
Maybe it was the ending that ruined the whole story. It is a series, but I think that the ending just threw me. I probably will give the second book a try just because I'm expecting that happy ending, and the book leaves you expecting...something.
Another possibility as to the reason of my dislike for this novel is that nothing was how I predicted it to be. I'm not going to spoil it for anyone...so if you like unpredictable stories with abrupt endings, this is the story for you. If these types of novels aren't your proverbial "cup of tea" then I would recommend a completely different story.
To be perfectly honest I was glued to this book until the "ahem" abrupt and alarming ending, but as soon as I realized that I had read the last word, I wanted to throw something.
I'm not saying that this isn't a good book, because it really is a good one, but I personally didn't fall in love with this one. And while I desperately want to give it five stars, I can't.
Thus, I will dub thee, Innkeeper of Ivy Hill, with a mere three out of five stars, and hope that your sequel sister far outshines, and renews my love for you.
Okay, I'm getting a bit loopy. :)

In the long run Julie Klassen really is an outstanding author who is extremely dedicated to her work, this book just wasn't for me. If you're anything like me you would enjoy The Apothecary's Daughter far more. It too was written by Julie Klassen and is one of her first novels. Give her a try, she's a great lady.

Book Review: The Pattern Artist

I think The Pattern Artist is the first novel that I've read by Nancy Moser, and I loved it! The characters were easy to understand and the dialogue interesting. It's full of adventure, but it also gives you a glimpse into the life of a poor housemaid who works her way up.
I loved the combined history in this book. So many facts that were put in here rang true.
This book is about commitment, honesty, and how to make it in life. It takes into context many different ways of life.
Annie Wood was a housemaid who was born into poverty in England. She sails over to New York City in 1911 with a rich, excessive family thinking that they need her for more than just menial housework, being the talented seamstress that she is, but the ladies of the house do not seem to realize that she has the talent, even though Annie does all of the work on the clothing.
Annie soon meets two other young people and they all decide to run-away for a glimpse of New York and a chance to make their own futures. With Macy's department store, A man named Sean, A trip to Paris, and the splendid ship, The Titanic, Annie gets more of an adventure than she had in mind.
The book is fantastic.
I would recommend it to anyone. and I will also give it five stars because history and mystery are a charming combination.

Book Review: Rails to Love

Rails to Love is a short story collection written by a number of different inspirational authors. With nine different stories about different people, and different times in history, it gives you a wide range of enjoyment.
I wasn't necessarily in love with all of the stories. Some of them seemed a bit rushed or just thrown together, but they were good stories, and better than I could have ever done on my own.
If you're looking for a quick read, the romance collections are for you. They include several short stories and are enjoyable and fast.
I rate Rails to Love with a five out of five. I liked the book and the idea of some of the stories, but as I have already stated, they seemed a bit rushed, like there could have been more to the story. All in all the novellas were quite enjoyable.

Book Review: Finding Margo

Jen Turano has once again delivered a treat. Although her previous novels have purely been in historical settings, Finding Margo is an upbeat and fully contemporary story.
It may be hard to relate with Margo, a young pop princess, at first, but eventually the relatable problems, humorous dialogue, and odd characters all make the story quite enjoyable.
Trying to get away from the hustle and bustle of the paparazzi, the press, and her mother, Margo heads off for an adventure without telling anyone where she's going. This isn't an easy feat for someone as famous as Margo is, so she disguises herself and changes her name to Marge Simpson. After an  encounter with a mad duck, crazy dog, and a nice looking deputy, Margo manages to drive her Mini Cooper into a lake.
Finding Margo definitely isn't what anyone would call boring. It's a story about acceptance, finding out ones true family, and love.
I would heartily recommend Finding Margo to anyone who likes a non-traditional love story.
I'm going to give Finding Margo 4 out of 5 stars. I loved the story, I love the author, but there were a few mistakes in the book having to do with grammar and incomplete sentences.
