Book: A Spring Of Weddings

Sometimes you read books that you fall in love with, and with reveiwing it's often pretty hard when you read a book and the love just didn't click. Maybe I was being a little to harsh...I don't think I was. I'm not normally like that. I just didn't enjoy myself while reading it. For you, it may be different, but while I read it I couldn't stay enthralled in it like I could other books. 

 A Spring of Weddings  isn't  getting a five star rating from me I am sorry to say. 

I know authors work doubly hard to make sure their readers fall in love with the characters, storyline, and all the other things involved in a book so giving a review that is more negative than positive is something I hate doing. 

The reason for my dislike of this book has nothing to do with the authors and everything to do with the storylines. 

The first short story, A Proxy Wedding, didn't have the oomph to make me fall in love... I had never heard of a proxy wedding before this so I was expecting something different and exciting, but the story seemed too rushed. Meet each other, fall in love, fight, fall back in love, etc... it was very traditional. If you're going for traditional than this storyline is perfect for you. But I get a little tired of the same ol' same ol'. 

The second story, Hope Beyond Savannah, was a little less traditional, but it was also more right before the wedding (they were already engaged). 

One main thing I didn't like about both books was that I learned more about the characters on the pre-read (I can't think of the right word right now...) on the back of the book than I did in my entire reading of the short stories. 

I'm going to have to go with 3 out of 5 stars for this book. Try it for yourself and let me know what your think... maybe I was just judging it wayyyy to harshly.

Book Review: The American Heiress Brides

The American Heiress Brides is another romance collection of nine short stories. I enjoyed some of them very much, but I didn't like the characters in others. I know authors work really hard on getting characters and things right, but a character makes an entire story. For this reason I gave the book a four out five star review.

The first story, written by Lisa Carter,  is about a young debutante, Eugenia Rutherford, who decides she doesn't want to marry for anything but love. After rejecting man after man she takes off on her own adventure with nothing but a trunk and a train ticket. Eugenia ends up in Silver Strike, California. She ends up in the street without any food to eat and no money to spend until a man named Cort hires her to take care of his aging grandmother. This one was my personal favorite just because of its ironic twists and turns that make the story totally unpredictable and fun.

Next up Mary Davis gives us a neat spin with The Reluctant Heiress. It's a story about Victoria Dewitt, whose deceased rich uncle has left everything to Victoria-if she marries a successful man, and stays married, within the allotted time period. After having dinner party after dinner party she realizes that these men aren't what she's looking for in a spouse.

I liked it well enough, but it was a little predictable, and I didn't like her attitude about everything. I liked the storyline and the idea of the concept.

Susanne Dietze writes about Penny, an heiress that's engaged to a widowed, English Earl whom she's never met before. She's okay with the marriage and the idea of being married until she mistakenly meets the Earls brother and falls in love with him.

The next short story is about a lawyer who is working to see a heiress thrown of her title and wealth. After completing the rather nefarious tasks of his employer he falls in love with her and proves her legitimacy. It is written by Anita May Draper.
They're all great stories and you should read the book to find out the plots and other stories of the book. I just wanted to give you a little insight. In short I would recommend this book to someone if they asked, but I would also tell them about my dislikes as well.

Book Review: Seven Brides for Seven Texans

The seven Hart brothers are in trouble. Adam, Bowie, Travis, Houston, Crockett, Chisolm, and Hays are all looking to inherit a piece of property from their Father, GW Hart, and his sprawling 7heart ranch. With their mother having been dead for 11 years and their Father wanting all of his sons married and with children before he dies he agrees to give each of his sons the inheritance before his death, and at the end of the year, if they all get married before New Years day. With none of them courting this seems like a huge and impossible feat.
I loved this book! I would definitely recommend reading this if you like short stories or not. The problem was that I couldn't put it down!
I liked how each of the characters had their own personalities, character traits, and flaw. I also enjoyed the fact that the stories included other family and facts in them.
One thing I thought was really neat, maybe because I myself live in Texas, is that each of the Hart brothers were named after Historical figures in Texas history.
It really is a great book. I give it a five out of five star rating.

Book Review: Rails to Love

Rails to Love is a short story collection written by a number of different inspirational authors. With nine different stories about different people, and different times in history, it gives you a wide range of enjoyment.
I wasn't necessarily in love with all of the stories. Some of them seemed a bit rushed or just thrown together, but they were good stories, and better than I could have ever done on my own.
If you're looking for a quick read, the romance collections are for you. They include several short stories and are enjoyable and fast.
I rate Rails to Love with a five out of five. I liked the book and the idea of some of the stories, but as I have already stated, they seemed a bit rushed, like there could have been more to the story. All in all the novellas were quite enjoyable.
